Our work at Home-Start Teignbridge depends heavily on donations from people like you to fund our work with parents and children. Everyone needs help at some time in their life… please help us to make a difference to a child’s life today.
We believe that the best possible start in life for a child begins at home with their family. A nurturing, loving, stable family and home environment strongly determines a child’s future life chances. Children whose parents are struggling to cope can miss out on the love, routine and support that are vital for their future.
When children face severe illness, or disability, when their mother has postnatal depression, when their father loses a job and spirals into debt and mental ill health or alcohol abuse … our volunteers want to be there for them – to help them and their whole family until they can cope again. We want to reach each child in their vital early years so they can have the best possible start in life. Very often we are the last chance they have.
As a charity we are responsible for raising the funds we need to deliver our vital family support service. It is a continual challenge for us to create a sustainable flow of funds and we need your help to secure the future of our services. The more money we raise, the more children we can help.
Particularly during the current crisis, demand for our services has risen more than usual.
We need your help to enable our families to flourish
There are many ways your donation can make a difference from training our volunteers to supporting a family.
It costs £500 to train a volunteer and £100 per month to support a family.
You can make a one off donation or make a monthly commitment to sponsor a family.

Set up a fundraising event
From cake bakes to sky dives there is a way for everyone to get involved. We are always looking for people to help us run and initiate fundraising events. You may want to complete a personal challenge such as a long distance run, a bungee jump or a sky dive. Perhaps for you it’s all about having fun in which case a ‘pub quiz’ night, a team challenge or a sponsored event will be right up your street. If you’d rather have your cake and eat it, cake sales and coffee mornings could be for you.
We have an experienced funding team on hand to support you and can help provide you with everything you need to get started and raise funds on our behalf.
For those who have more substantial experience in event management we’d love to hear from you too as we are always seeking support to run large scale high profile events.

Leave a Legacy
Changing the world for one child by leaving a gift in your will towards our work at Home-Start Teignbridge would be an amazing legacy and would take far less than you might think.
Not everyone thinks about leaving a legacy to a charity. We know that loved ones and friends come first but if there was a small percentage left over (it doesn’t have to be a large amount at all), we promise to use it carefully and effectively on your behalf.
The work we do with fragile families and vulnerable children is about keeping children safe and making families strong. We believe that every parent should get the support they need to give their children the love and care that is so important. We know that adverse experiences in childhood can have a devastating effect on children for the rest of their lives.
If you choose to leave a legacy to help our work we will always respect your kindness and ensure your gift lives on in the area of your choice. Simply make a note with or in your will as to how you would like to support and we promise we will follow your wishes. You may, of course, prefer to keep that private and you can do that by letting us know directly in writing.
We recommend you see a solicitor when writing or amending any will or legal document.
